Ergonomics Specialist (Dallas, TX)

Position Title: Automotive Ergonomics Specialist

Primary Responsibilities: Provide in-depth consolation in general ergonomic problems or within the area of specialty in ergonomics.

Essential Functions:

  • Works independently or leads ergonomic consulting team to assess ergonomic problems in a client organization, present recommendations for correction of cumulative trauma disorders and, on request, install recommendations in the client organization.
  • Prepares a “Scope of the Work” project recommendation with estimated costs and expenses for client approval.
  • Conducts, or leads the team in conducting, detailed ergonomic analyses by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from employees and work environments.
  • Consolidates and compares data with relevant current research.
  • Develops meaningful alternative solutions to identified ergonomic problems and proposes practical design solutions specific to the work site.
  • Presents findings orally and in writing to designated client representatives with recommendations for abatement.
  • Develops and implements programs for client employee selection, testing, and training in avoidance of cumulative trauma disorders.
  • Supervises and trains technicians and associates in performing support tasks. Interviews and approves candidates for all professional and technical positions.
  • At year-end, recommends profit sharing and bonus payments to professional and technical staff based on hours worked, level of responsibility, and individual performance on projects.
  • Depending on the scope of the project, may work independently or lead a team of professional and technical personnel.
  • Coordinates cross-training of professional and technical personnel to achieve an optimum level of knowledge and experience available for new projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive working knowledge and experience in ergonomics. Accreditation by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics is required.
  • Recognized degrees (typically Master’s) in ergonomics or human factors engineering. Several years’ experience in industry, construction, or process industries with ergonomic problems as a safety engineer or industrial hygienist.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead professional and technical teams and to interface effectively with all levels of client personnel.
  • Salary is Market Rate.
